Job Description

Lyons Landscaping is seeking an Accounting Technician to work as an integral
member of the Finance Department. This position reports to the Assistant
Controller and will manage day to day financial operations and assist the
accounting team as needed.

What You’ll Be Doing:

* Assist with the monthly financial close process
* Revenue recognition accounting
* Assist with analyzing financial statements on a monthly basis and report on
variances
* Preparation of job and equipment cost statements, reports and records
* Job cost accounting and analysis
* Invoice processing, purchase orders and accounts payable management
* Managing corporate credit card transactions
* Maintenance of cash schedules and cash flow forecast
* Administer and manage operating systems
* Prepare and input monthly journal entries including those for cash
adjustments, prepaid expenses and sales taxes
* Perform year-end reconciliations for various accounts and assist with
processing year end file
* Review, investigate and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial
entries, documents and reports
* Assist in the implementation and modification of accounting systems and
accounting control procedures
* Report and analyze all requests for time, material or billing information and
statistics
* Manage time and resources for completion of special projects assigned and
ensure all deadlines are met
* Assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for
improvement and implementing new processes
* Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivables
* Assist with weekly payroll and payroll taxes as needed
* Review invoicing for accuracy

What It Takes:

* Enrollment in a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration,
Finance or related experience or enrollment in the CPA program or related
experience an asset.
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in a professional services company
environment
* Proficiency in QuickBooks, MS Office Suite
* Exceptional interpersonal skills as well as written and oral communication
skills
* Exhibits accuracy, detail and quality assurance in all work
* A drive to succeed and a proven ability to be resilient and overcome
challenges
* A disciplined approach to daily activity planning, setting goals and
achieving success
* Works well independently and in a team environment
* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations
